Parent Involvement

 

Welcome Parents! We Need You! There are many opportunities to become involved at Lancaster High School. We have a very active Parent Volunteer Program. No amount of time is too little. Sometimes just an extra hand is all that is needed. To join you must be 21 years of age and pass an extensive background check. When you come in for a scheduled appointment, you must fill out an application. Please bring with you a current Driver’s License or CA ID card and proof of Tuberculosis (TB) clearance within the last four years. These documents along with the completed application will be taken to our District Office. They will contact you to schedule an appointment for your Live Scan (fingerprinting). We will pay the Live Scan fee for parent volunteers once applications have been completed. Once you have received security clearance from the Department of Justice (DOJ) and our Board of Directors, you will be notified that you are clear to volunteer. You will be directed to come in to the LHS and obtain an ID badge.

Here are some of the areas and activities we need volunteers:

 

ACADEMIC & SENIOR AWARDS NIGHT – hand out programs, set up & serve refreshments

ATHLETICS – assist under the supervision of the coaches

CAREER CENTER - InFoSnap (minor training to assist other parents), bilingual (esp. Spanish) is helpful

CHAPERONING – events locally & field trips under the supervision of teachers

CLASSROOM – Arabic translators under the supervision of classroom teachers

COPYING – mailers, graduation programs, etc.

FILING - (after minor training) – Records Department & Health Office

GRADUATION ACTIVITIES – Cap & Gowns, grad ticket sells, distribution of diplomas, etc.

REGISTRATION – copying health records, monitoring traffic, InFoSnap (after training), etc.

ROBOTICS – assist students under the supervision of mentors & advisors

TEXTBOOKS – distribute in the Fall and reclaim in the Spring
